Zebra Print Fibre Rugs
We realise that a real hide is not for everyone. If a real animal hide is not your cup of tea, why not treat your home to a zebra patterned fibre floor-covering? Far cheaper than a real animal hide, these fibre rugs do not require as much care as a real hide whilst still in keeping with the rustic African look so are perfect for any home in which there are pets or messy young children present.

Real Cowhide Rugs
While we love zebra rugs, there is someting equally alluring about a real cowhide rug. These are the real deal, made from genuine cow skins. There is a huge variety of patterns and markings available and no two are ever the same. These cow skins are also available in a massive variety of colours meaning you're sure to find one to fit in with the decor in your home.

Ethical Zebra Rugs
The “real hide” rugs shown here are not genuine Zebra skins. They are in fact real cowhides, printed with a zebra stripe pattern. As these cow skins are by-products of the meat industry, they are actually recycled from a waste product that would otherwise usually be thrown away. We’re not saying that everyone would feel comfortable having one in their home, vegans especially, but as the cows from which these rugs are made were already killed for their meat, it would be wasteful to throw away such a beautiful and impressive skin. Compare this to the often illegal trade of real zebra hides and you will see that using these recycled hides is far more ethical and far less wasteful.
For those who love the authentic African look but would prefer not to use real leather, we also bring you a great range of faux zebra rugs created from man-made fibres, giving the authentic look with none of the guilt!
Buying a Rug
When buying a rug for your home, be sure to measure the room first. Compare the room size to the size of the rug you have chosen to be sure it will be a comfortable fit, without being overbearing. If unsure, lay out some sheets of newspaper or plastic bags to cover the area of the rug to help you make your decision. Real hide zebra patterned rugs look fantastic on any solid wood, marble or tiled floor and natural materials are becoming more and more popular the world over in interior design.
If you are using your rug in a high traffic area or have pets or young children, consider getting a protective coating such as ScotchGuard and also consider a non slip backing which also helps to avoid slip hazards.
